Northeast Tennessee continues to be well represented on this week’s Tennessee Football Prep Poll and especially Carter County with three teams claiming a spot in the Top 10.

The Elizabethton Cyclones continue to hold onto the number one spot in Class 4A receiving 14 of 16 first-place votes for the week with Greeneville and Pearl Cohn picking up one first-place vote apiece.

The poll will shake up some this week in Class 4A as the Cyclones and Greene Devils battle Friday night for the top spot in Region 1 4-A at Citizens Bank Stadium in a matchup in first and second-place teams.

In Class 2A, the Hampton Bulldogs moved up one spot from number four last week to number three this week. The ‘Dogs are 43 points behind first-place Meigs County who defeated the Bulldogs in the playoffs last season and trail second-place Trousdale County by only seven points for second-place.

Cloudland sits at number seven this week receiving one first-place vote as the Highlanders continue putting big-time points on the board behind the one-two punch of Seth Birchfield and Caleb Sluder.

While the Highlanders are flipping the scoreboard several times a contest, the defense has been stellar as well for first-year head coach Zac Benfield.

Other teams from the area finding their way onto the poll include Dobyns-Bennett in Class 6A at number nine, David Crockett at #10 in Class 5A, and Unicoi County tied for ninth in Class 3A.

Here is this week’s poll as released by the Associated Press.
