During the ceremony honoring LaFluer, the student was presented with an official resolution signed by Senator Crowe, Speaker of the Senate Randy McNally, Speaker of the House Cameron Sexton, and Governor of the great state of Tennessee, Bill Lee.

The resolution highlighted LaFluer’s accomplishment, and ended with a congratulations along with well wishes for the student, saying, “We honor and commend Lucian LaFluer upon being named the 2021 Boys and Girls Club of Elizabethton/Carter County Youth of the Year, extending to him our best wishes for every future success.”

Before being given the resolution, LaFluer was commended by Senator Crowe, who spoke to him and the rest of the students in attendance, saying, “We are really proud of our Boys and Girls Clubs here in the state of Tennessee and we do not know what we would do without you guys. These kids, these young students and teens that come out of our Boys and Girls Club programs end up becoming leaders in our state and in our communities.”

“We are very proud of all of you guys, and we are very proud of Lucian. There are not that many people across our state that are able to achieve this, so it is a very distinguished honor.”

After the presentation of the resolution, LaFluer was asked to say a few words, which he did saying, “I just wanna say that this is a great honor and a great opportunity for all of you guys in attendance to learn that anything is possible as long as you have dedication and work hard in what you do.”
