Wayne Buchanan, 87, of Hampton, Tenn., passed away Wednesday, September 8, 2021, at Johnson City Medical Center. He was born in Elizabethton to the late Nan Clark. Wayne was a retired foreman from Summers-Taylor Inc. He attended Blue Ridge Mountain Church in North Carolina. Wayne was a Shriner and a 32nd Degree Mason. He was a member of Masonic Lodge #566 F&AM. He enjoyed motorcycles and at a younger age would race his motorcycles. Wayne loved to work and raise his roosters. He always made sure his family was taken care of.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife of 67 years, Stella Mae Buchanan; grandson, Dustin Eric Scott Buchanan; brother, Bill Clark Sr.; and sister, Daisy Howard.
Those left to cherish his memory are his daughter, Kathryn Buchanan Strong of Elizabethton; son, Allen Buchanan and wife Donna of Elizabethton; two granddaughters, Amanda Collins of Sevierville and Heather Strong of Elizabethton; three grandsons, Darien Collins and Cody Turbyfill of Elizabethton and Zachary Ensor and wife Amy of Elizabethton; 10 great-grandchildren, Hailee Strong, Rex Colbaugh, Aaliyah Largent, Breanna Sky, Deserree Strong, Jesiah Strong, Libby Kate Ensor, Jamie Turbyfill, Jayce Turbyfill and Gabby Turbyfill; two brothers, Carl Clark and Mike Clark of Elizabethton; and two sisters, Noralee Hill of Burnsville, N.C., and Frances McKinney of Hampton. Several nieces and nephews also survive.
A funeral service to honor the life of Wayne Buchanan will be conducted at 1:30 p.m. Sunday, September 12, in the Chapel of Peace of Tetrick Funeral Home with Pastor Marvin Slagle officiating. The family will receive friends between the hours of noon and 1:30 p.m. Sunday, prior to the service. The graveside service and committal will follow the service on Sunday at Happy Valley Memorial Park, Johnson City. Active pallbearers are Mike Clark, Darien Collins, Mike Odom, Bob Blevins, Jimmy Woodby and Matt Guy. Those who wish to attend the graveside service will travel together in procession to the cemetery on Sunday following the service.
