Gerald Lyonell Ramsey, 60, Hampton, passed away Saturday, October 23, 2021, at Sycamore Shoals Hospital. He was born November 12, 1960 in Banner Elk, N.C. He had lived his life in Carter County.
Prior to his illness, Gerald was employed at Star Manufacturing. He was a member of Rittertown Baptist Church.
He was preceded in death by his father, Lloyd Tate Ramsey.
Survivors include his wife, Alesia Smith Ramsey; a son, Seth; his mother, Jo Silver Ramsey; two sisters, Donna Huffman and Emily Ramsey; and a brother, Timothy Ramsey. Several nieces and nephews also survive.
Funeral services will be conducted at 1 p.m. Thursday, October 28, at Rittertown Baptist Church with Pastor Dean Smith and Pastor Tim Ramsey officiating. The graveside service and interment will follow in the Rittertown Baptist Church Cemetery with the Rev. Richard Stout officiating. Active pallbearers will be Mark Payne, Josh Smith, Ned Smith, Tip Smith, Mike Smith, Mark Sturgill and JoeJoe Campbell. Honorary pallbearers will be Harry Smith, Robert Ramsey, Caleb Smith, Jerry Street, Gordon Smith Jr. and Lewis Honeycutt. The family will receive friends from noon until the service hour at 1 p.m. The family would like to express a special “Thank You” to Dr. David Kimmel & Staff.
