Opal Alma Jestes, 90, of Bluff City, Tenn., passed away on Sunday, October 24, 2021, at her home, of natural causes. Mrs. Jestes was raised in Elk Park, N.C., to the late Joseph and Gladys Ward Turbyfill.
Mrs. Jestes retired from Hammond Valve Corporation in Hammond, Ind. She was a member of Elk Park Christian Church and attended Hampton Christian Church.
She was preceded in death by William Bradford Underwood, to whom she was married to for 41 years, and Herman Ralph Jestes, whom she was married to for 16 years. Also, four brothers, Olden Turbyfill, Edward Turbyfill, Harold Turbyfill and Vernon Turbyfill, and one sister, Jean Whittington.
Survivors include two daughters, Kathy Kubalanza and husband Keith of Princeton, Ky., and Sue Laws and husband Mike of Elizabethton, Tenn.; five grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild. Several nieces and nephews also survive.
A graveside service to honor the life of Opal Alma Jestes will be conducted at 2 p.m. Sunday, October 31, in the Perry Cemetery in Roan Mountain with Mr. Dwayne Calhoun, minister, officiating. Active pallbearers will be Chris Hoffman, Paul Hoffman Jr., Brad Laws, Phillip Ramsey, Jason Powell and Max Ramsey. Honorary pallbearers will be Keith Kubalanza, Mike Laws, Derick Hughes, Ben Trimble, Bradley Trimble and Illias Ramsey. Those wishing to attend the graveside service are asked to meet at Tetrick Funeral Home at 1:15 p.m. or at the cemetery at 1:50 p.m. Sunday.
