During the Keep Carter County Beautiful monthly November meeting, the organization had much to discuss in terms of upcoming events within the community,

One of the first items on the agenda focused on a project that had already been completed since the last meeting in October, a tire cleanup from the Watauga River on Blevins road in which volunteers pulled up 35 tires out of the waterway near Blevins Road in Elizabethton.

Moving on to future projects, the first item discussed by the board was in regard to wayfinding signage in the area that would help visitors find their way around the community. Board member Ross Garland spoke on the progress of the project, saying, “The signage is still being worked on, and last week I sent the company an edit to what they had sent me. And just this week, they sent me another product in which I sent them another edit.”

“Right now they can not get exactly what I am after, but after maybe one more time everything should become finalized,” Garland continued.

The next order of business brought up during the meeting revolved around a conservation project that the board is working on, planting trees throughout the community.

Ed Basconi of Keep Carter County Beautiful spoke on this project and what it could do for the community, stating, “We have found that there are seven types of trees that would be suitable for planting in the area that ranges in price from $108 up to around $150. With these trees, people will be able to donate to the project and a tree and both a tree and plaque will be placed in their honor.”

Along with these items, Keep Carter County Beautiful also agreed that they will be taking part in the 2021 Downtown Elizabethton Christmas Parade.

The next scheduled meeting for the Keep Carter County Beautiful board is set for January 13th at noon inside of the Elizabethton Chamber of Commerce.
