Valerie Ann Teaster, 61, of Elizabethton, Tenn., went home to be with the Lord on Sunday, November 14, 2021, at Sycamore Shoals Hospital. Valerie was born in Tampa, Fla., to the late William H. Gray Jr. and Colleen M. Nelson Gray. In addition to her parents, Valerie was preceded in death by her best friend, Elaine Lopez.
Valerie had worked in retail and had worked in the forestry service when she was younger and loved animals. Most of all she loved her grandchildren and she was very artistic.
Valerie was of the Baptist faith although she was raised Catholic She was always ready to help anyone and she loved everything to do with spending time with her grandchildren.
Those left to cherish her memory include her children, Dave Coker, Derrick Teaster, Renee Teaster and Terry Teaster Jr.; seven grandchildren; several pets; and many close friends.
A memorial service to celebrate Valerie’s life will be conducted from 3 until 5 p.m. Wednesday, November 17, in the Chapel of Tetrick Funeral Home, Elizabethton. Those who prefer memorials in lieu of flowers may make donations to the Bays Mountain Wolf Santuary, 853 Bays Mountain Park Road, Kingsport, TN 37660 in memory of Valerie.
