Lady Cyclones get big win over Cosby

The Elizabethton Lady Cyclones managed to come out on top against the Cosby Eagles Tuesday night inside John Treadway Gym.
The game was close throughout, starting all in the first quarter. The Lady Cyclones managed to take a 15-9 lead in the first quarter led by Reiley Whitson who had six points in the first eight minutes. Marlee Mathena added four points, and junior Renna Lane chipped in with four.
The second quarter is where the Lady Cyclones showed the Lady Eagles real Cyclone basketball. Junior Olivia Holly scored eight in the second. Combined the team scored 27 in the second quarter putting the Lady Cyclones with a huge lead and a score of 42-22 at the half.
In the third, the Lady Cyclones didn’t let up once again scoring 21 points on the Lady Eagles. Putting the lead at 26, a margin hard to come back from, the Lady Cyclones had won this game by the end of the third with the score at the end of the third period, 63-37.
In the fourth, not much happened for the Lady Eagles as they only scored five points in the final quarter. The Lady Cyclones added 17 more on the Lady Eagles making the final 79-42 in favor of Elizabethton.
The Lady Cyclones are now 3-2 on the season and are riding a three-game win streak. Their next game is against Science Hill on Tuesday.
This season will be a tough one as the Lady Cyclones have one of the hardest schedules in the state. The Lady Cyclones have the potential to go far even considering these factors.
