Cyclones down J.I. Burton

The Elizabethton Cyclone basketball team traveled across the state line on Thursday to take on J.I. Burton out of Norton, VA and Coach Lucas Honeycutt’s squad didn’t let the long bus ride detour them from taking care of business.
Led by Seth Carter’s 26-point outburst, the Cyclones downed the host team 68-50.
The Cyclones jumped out front in the first half 32-21 as Carter hit 11 of his 26 in the opening 16 minutes of play. Elizabethton also had seven points from Mac Paulson and Kaleb Hambrick chipped in with six points.
Four other Cyclones added at least two points each.
Elizabethton closed out the second half on a 36-29 run to earn the 18-point win.
Paulson and Hambrick both ended with double figures along with Carter scoring 12 and 11 respectively. Other scorers who reached the scoring ledger for Elizabethton included: Will Churchill (8), Andrew Barnett (4), Pickens (3), Bryce VanHuss (2), and Caleb Franklin (2).
Godsey scored 20 to lead the Black Raiders in defeat. Teasley added 13 points.
