To the Editor:
I have often told my teacher candidate students one of the best ways to pay a compliment is to say it in front of another person.
John Grindstaff, Chuck Jarrett and Brian Tanner from the Carter County Emergency Medical Service (CCEMS) have made such an impression on my husband and me.
Our families had roots in Carter County/Avery County, and after graduating from Milligan, we served in churches and schools in Florida for over 40 years. Since 2001, when we returned to East Tennessee, due to my mother’s declining health, we have been so impressed with the extended community, not just with his Downtown Christian members and friends and my involvement at Milligan, local school systems, and civic organizations.
In the past two weeks, it has become even more apparent from the care and concern extended by the team mentioned above. During two different gatherings at our home recently, medical attention was needed, and EMS responded quickly, professionally, and compassionately on both occasions. We thank each from the bottom of our heart and want to express our deepest appreciation through The Star, which we read and support.

Most sincerely,
Dr. Billye Joyce Fine
