Phillip “Phil” Stephen Asher

Phillip “Phil” Stephen Asher, 62, went home to be with the Lord on Sunday, December 19, 2021, at Sycamore Shoals Hospital.
Phil was born in Elizabethton to the late Billy Joe Asher and Berniece Holder Asher. In addition to his parents, Phil was preceded in death by his grandparents, Cornie and Hazel Asher and Roy and Addie Holder; a nephew, Jason Asher; two nieces, Jenny Caldwell and Robin Grindstaff; and several special friends.
Phil was a 1977 graduate of Unaka High and a member of Poplar Grove Baptist Church. He worked as a Superintendent for Superior Piping at Duke Power in North Carolina for the last 10+ years. Phil was a loving and proud son, brother, husband, daddy, papaw, uncle, and friend. More than anything, he loved spending time with his family and friends. Some of his favorite things were swimming with his grandbabies, going camping, and taking road trips.
Those left to cherish his memory include the love of his life of 30 years, Glennie Asher; son, Brian and wife Kellee Asher; son, Brad and wife Mary Asher; daughter, Emily and husband Justin Campbell; and son, Spencer and wife Danielle Goodwin; seven grandchildren, Nolan, Alisha, Lakely, Brooklyn, Hunter, Landrie, and Easton; five siblings, Mike and wife Bertha Asher, Rachel and husband Earl Miller, David and wife Donna Asher, Prissy and husband Kelly Smith, and Hope and husband Mickey Rambo; several nieces and nephews; and special friends, Lawson Jenkins, Ralph and Amy Buckles, Rick Smith, Jamie Matheson, Terry Bowers, Scotty Garland, Lance Nidiffer, Dave Knotts, Ronnie Runion, Keith Bowers Sr., the Nidiffer/PSG family, and the McDonald’s “Breakfast Crew/friends.”
A service to celebrate the life of Phil Asher will be conducted at 7 p.m. Monday, December 27, at Memorial Funeral Chapel in Elizabethton with Pastor Dean Presnell officiating. The family will receive friends beginning at 6 p.m. until the service at 7 p.m.
Memorial Funeral Chapel in Elizabethton, (423) 543-3839, will be serving the Asher family.
