WCSO: Unattended death investigation in Jonesborough

JONESBOROUGH – According to Washington County Sheriff Keith Sexton, the department is investigating an unattended death under suspicious circumstances in the Conklin community of Washington County.
“At approximately 12:52 pm on Jan. 1, 2022, deputies and emergency personnel responded to an unattended death call on Conklin Road,” Sheriff Sexton explained. “The body was found inside an empty barn with suspicious circumstances present. The Tennessee Bureau of Investigation was called to assist in the investigation and after the preliminary investigation was completed the body was transferred to the William L. Jenkins Forensic Center at ETSU for a pending autopsy. Those findings necessitate an investigation.”
The victim was identified as Eula Miles, a 73-year-old female, and pronounced dead at the scene by first responders.
The investigation will be handled by WCSO and the findings will be turned over to the District Attorney General for review. No charges have been filed as of this hour. The investigation is in the preliminary stages. More information will be forthcoming as the investigation progresses.
