Jr. Lady Cyclones roll to Area 1 AAA semi-finals

KINGSPORT – The T.A. Dugger Jr. Lady Cyclones had put the game on ice before it had even made it to the half of their Area 1 AAA opening tournament game at John Sevier in Kingsport.
The Jr. Lady Cyclones shot out of the block like a rocket and by the time the first 12 minutes of the game were over had built a 43-10 lead over Sullivan Heights and then cruised to a 64-23 win.
With the victory, TAD advances to one of Tuesday’s semifinal games at 6:15 p.m. against host John Sevier who defeated Greeneville to reach the contest opposite the Jr. Lady Cyclones.
Seven Jr. Lady Cyclones scored in the opening half to build the large advantage led by Michelle Shields who recorded 13 points. Adrian Heading had a solid half as well hitting two treys and a deuce for eight points.
Rylee May and Jamira Smalls were a contributing factor as well as both scored six points apiece. Reagan May and Sadie Williams netted four each and Molly Wallin added a deuce.
Nila Horne had six of Sullivan Heights 10 points in the half.
The second half was mop-up duty for TAD as Shields added six more points to her total and Kalli Shepard came on strong in the half as well with six points. Londyn Taylor got in on the scoring as she dropped in four points with Heading and Rylee May each adding two points apiece to their scoring tally.
Reagan May added 1-of-2 free throws.
Shields led all scorers with 19. Heading finished with 10 points.
Horne scored 16 of Sullivan Heights 23 points in the loss.
