To the Editor:
According to www.christianheadlines.com an Alcoholic Anonymous group in England has been removed from AA’s online directory after the group was told it had become too “Christian-focused.” Alcoholics Anonymous was started in the 1930s by Christians. I like the Serenity Prayer that is traditionally said at the end of meetings. “God grant me the serenity to accept the things I cannot change, courage to change the things I can and wisdom to know the difference.” YouTube removed Pastor John MacArthur’s recent sermon on Biblical sexuality and labels it hate speech because it offends the LGBTQ people. A lot of Christian websites have also been kicked off of YouTube because their being too Christian had offended people, and people are more easily offended than ever. One of my favorite Christian websites www.skywatchtv.com was also kicked off YouTube for being too Christian but you can still see their videos at their website or on www.rumble.com.
Jesus said, “Woe unto you when all men shall speak well of you! — for so did their fathers to the false prophets.”
As a Christian I prefer organizations that are the most Christian focused and Bible focused. Years ago I gave some money to World Vision that claimed to be Christian and help children. After Al Mohler wrote about “The flawed moral vision of World Vision” and that they supported hiring homosexuals and would support same-sex marriage many Christians stopped supporting them. They also starting hiring Muslims. I called and told them I could never support them. I found out Compassion International does the same kind of work in helping children but follows the Bible and is trusted and top rated by charity watch. Compassion International is Christian and Bible focused. The Bible says we should give to our local church first. The Bible in Galatians 6 says, “As we have therefore opportunity let us do good unto all men, especially unto them who are of the household of faith.” After giving to our church we should give to ARM (542-0919), Camp Ta-Pa-Win-Go –- CBM Camp in Watauga (543-8272), Doe River Gorge Ministries, a Christian Camp in Hampton (725-4010), and local Christian radio. Two of my favorite Christian radio stations are www.loveradio.fm and www.wcqr.org. Giving local goes further and by giving locally you help employ your neighbors and also witness of Jesus to your neighbors.
People asked me if Goodwill or the Salvation Army are Christian organizations. The Salvation Army was started by Christians and is clearly more Christian than Goodwill. I wouldn’t give any money donation to Goodwill as there have been complaints that Goodwill pays its top CEO over $700,000 while they pay employees with disabilities pennies per hour. They also payed 23 regional CEOs high salaries. Many don’t know the Fair Labor Standards Act allows employers via 14c certificates to pay those with disabilities rates far below federal minimum wage. At one time Goodwill payed disabled employees less than one dollar an hour. It is legal, but not a Christian thing to pay employees as little as you can.
People working in Hollywood and in television have said directors and producers have told them they will not get roles or get rich if they talk about Jesus. Both political parties have rejected Protestant Christians for judges because they are too Christian. Out of the nine on the U.S. Supreme Court none are Protestant Christians. Revival will cause more to attend church in person and not online. In Hebrews the Bible says not to forsake coming together as a church especially as you see the return of Jesus coming. The Bible says they know we are Christians by our love for other Christians and we best show that love by in-person meetings. Paul said he wanted to see the church in-person so that their joy would be full. We miss a lot of blessings and joy if we don’t meet in person and the joy of the Lord Jesus is our strength. We are encouraged and strengthened more by in-person meetings. Experts say if we have revival we will have more persecution because America will become too Christian for the culture. Remember culture isn’t king. Jesus is King! For Christians who love Jesus and are Jesus-focused their future is out of this world!
