Coach Quarles reveals 2022 signing class

JOHNSON CITY – The East Tennessee State University Football team capped off the 2022 National Signing Day coverage with a press conference to recap the signing class.
The press conference was held at William B. Greene, Jr. Stadium where head coach George Quarles broke down the signees and addressed the media.
“I think this class has a lot of quality,” commented Coach Quarles. “The quantity is not huge, but there are some really good players in the group. We have some immediate help with some of them that were able to enroll this spring. I am excited about the group of young men that we were able to bring to Johnson City.”
Of the eight newcomers joining the Bucs, four come from the state of Georgia, three from Tennessee and one from South Carolina.
The positional breakdown is as follows: two on the defensive line, two defensive backs, one wide receiver, one

Andy Boykin, Jr. – DL – 6-4 – 315 – LaGrange, Ga. (Univ. of Arkansas)
• Transferring to ETSU from Arkansas
• Appeared in one game for the Razorbacks in 2020 against Ole Miss (Oct. 17)
• Three-star prospect by Rivals.com, 247Sports and ESPN out of high school
• Rated as the No. 37 strongside defensive end in the country by 247Sports.com
• Ranked 51st in the state of Georgia by ESPN
• Four-year varsity letterwinner at Troup County High School in LaGrange, Ga.
• Recorded 65 total tackles, with nine tackles for loss and five sacks as a senior in 2019, while
blocking four kicks
• Helped Troup County HS to a berth in the 2019 Georgia 4A High School Football playoffs
• Named to the All-Region 5-4A Defensive Team
• Had offers out of high school from: Alabama, Arkansas, Auburn, Florida, Georgia,
Tennessee, Florida State, Miami, Oregon and others

Amir Dendy – RB – 6-1 – 192 – Anderson, S.C. (Westside High School)
• Lettered in both football and track & field at Westside High School
• Had a standout 2021 season at Westside High School, leading his team to the Class 4A
Region Championship and earning Region Player of the Year Honors along the way
• Was also named both to both the Class 4A All-State and All-Region team
• Earned five Anderson Independent Football Player of the Week honors and two Anderson
Area Touchdown Player of the Week awards during his career
• Led Pendleton High School to Class 3A Region Championships in 2018 and 2019
• Earned back-to-back First Team All-Region with Pendleton in 2019 and 2020
• Twice led his track & field team to Class 3A Region Championships at Pendleton (2018 &
2020), while earning All-Region honors in the 4×100 and 110 High Hurdles both years
• Entering the 2021 season, he was rated a 3-star running back after posting a 4.4 40-yard
dash, 39” vertical, 10’5” broad jump
• Accumulated over 5,000 career all-purpose yards (3,188 rushing yards, 596 receiving yards
and 1,307 kickoff return yards

Chris Everhart – OL – 6-3 – 308 – Greeneville, Tenn. (Marshall University)
• Transferred to ETSU from Marshall University
• Rated a three-star prospect by ESPN.com and 247Sports.com
• Also received an offer from Middle Tennessee, Chattanooga and Campbell
• Played in nine games at offensive line for Marshall in 2020
• Played offensive guard and defensive tackle at Greeneville where he was a four-year starter
and earned all-state honors
• Also threw the discus as a member of the track & field team
• Son of Cline and Lisa Everhart … plans to major in Exercise Science
• Brother, Bryan Everhart, played baseball for four years at Carson Newman
• Born Aug. 9, 2001
Jaylen George – DE – 6-2 – 245 – Suwanee, Ga. (Collins Hill High School)
• Lettered in football, wrestling and track & field at Collins Hill High School
• Played outside linebacker while in high school
• Led his high school to becoming state champs as a senior and registered 13 sacks
• Son of Jevon and Kimberly George … plans to major in Business

Jayvon Henderson – DB – 5-10 – 185 – Auburn, Ga. (Mill Creek High School)
• Lettered in football at Mill Creek High School, playing cornerback
• Defensive Player of the Week by Gwinnett Daily Post
• Named to the All-Region 8A First Team
• Received an invite to play in the Florida-Georgia Showcase and the George Elite Classic
• Named to both the Offense-Defense All-American Bowl for California and Jacksonville
• Son of Latonya Henderson … plans to major in Business
• Cousin, Jamari Brown, played four years of football at Tuskegee

Tyree Rainey – DB – 6-0 – 182 – Donalsonville, Ga. (Seminole County High School)
• Lettered in football at Seminole County High School
• Played safety for Seminole County where he earned both First and Second Team Defensive
Back honors during his playing career
• Son of Tamika Register … plans to major in Physical Science
• Born Dec. 4, 2002
William Riddle – QB – 6-1 – 186 – Chattanooga, Tenn. (McCallie School)
• Lettered in football and lacrosse at McCallie School, playing quarterback and attack
• Led McCallie School to three state championships, while also earning a spot as Tennessee
Mr. Football Finalist
• Earned D2-AAA East/Middle Region Player of the Year honors and garnered a spot on the
Coaches D2-AAA All-State Team
• Scenic City Sports Tennessee Player of the Year and State Championship MVP
• In his final two seasons with McCallie, he passed for 4,560 yards, 60 touchdowns and a
completion percentage of 63.7%
• Son of Rob and Melanie Riddle … plans to major in Finance
• Brother, Robert Riddle, played football at both Mercer and Chattanooga
• His father, Rob, played four years of golf at Shorter College

Tommy Winton, III – WR – 5-10 – 189 – Knoxville, Tenn. (Knoxville Catholic)
• Lettered in football at Knoxville Catholic High School
• Played both wide receiver and defensive back at Knoxville Catholic
• Named All-State and All-Region all four years in high school
• Accumulated 3,154 receiving yards and 43 touchdowns while with Knoxville Catholic
• Son of Tommy Winton, Jr. and Ashley Green … plans to major in Business
