Carl Tolley Jr., 68, Hampton, passed away Saturday, February 12, 2022, at Johnson City Medical Center.
A native of Carter County, he was a son of the late Carl Tolley Sr. and Daisy Bentley Tolley.
Carl was a retired truck driver with Birchfield Construction. He loved boating on Watauga Lake and loved collecting guns. He was a member of Oak Hill Free Will Baptist Church.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a daughter, Kimberly Buckles.
Survivors include his wife of 50 years, Penny Shell Tolley; one daughter, Carla (Travis) Fleenor; five grandchildren, Christa Presnell, Andrea (Greg) Lee, Kaleb Church, Brent Buckles and Todd Hughes Jr.; three great-grandchildren, Evan Wyatt, Gavin Lee and Liam Presnell; three sisters, Juanita Clark, Margaret Jenkins and Shirley “Susie” Tolley; one brother, Richard Tolley; several nieces and nephews; and his best friend, Harold Presnell.
A graveside service will be conducted at 11:30 a.m. Thursday, February 17, in the Oak Hill Free Will Baptist Church Cemetery with the Rev. Shane Waters officiating. Interment will follow the service. Active pallbearers will be Travis Fleenor, Todd Hughes, Brent Buckles, Chester Greene, Greg Lee and Sandy Shell. The family will receive friends from 10 until 11 a.m. Thursday at the funeral home.
