Roy Allen Hyatt, 70, Elizabethton, passed away Wednesday at his residence.
A native of Carter County, he was a son of the late George and Corda Greer Hyatt.
Roy served in the United States Army during the Vietnam Era. He was a retired carpenter. He loved fishing, NASCAR and watching his grandchildren, leaving a smile on peoples’ faces everywhere he went and taking care of his cat Diesel.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a son, Ezra Hyatt; a brother, James Hyatt; and a nephew, James Lee Hyatt Jr.
Survivors include his children, Grady Hyatt and wife Meagan, Elizabethton, and Danielle Turbyfill, Marion, N.C.; four grandchildren, Grady Hyatt, Jasey Hyatt, Ashleigh Hyatt and Faylee; and a sister, Helen Smith and husband Mitchell, Elizabethton.
A graveside service will be conducted at 3 p.m. Sunday, February 20, in the Walnut Mountain Cemetery with Mr. Dwayne Calhoun, minister, officiating. Active pallbearers, who are requested to assemble at the funeral home at 2 p.m. Sunday, will be Grady Hyatt, Jim Oliver, Darrell Greer, Monte Fleenor, Paul Greer, Grady Tyler Hyatt, Allen Oliver and Jason Oliver. Family and friends will assemble at the funeral home at 2 p.m. Sunday to go in procession to the cemetery. Condolences may be sent to the family at our website, www.memorialfcelizabethton.com.
