Douglas Wayde Emerson, 62, Hampton, passed away Sunday, February 27, 2022, at his residence. He was born December 18, 1959 in Gettysburg, Pa., but had lived in Tennessee for the past 26 years.
Douglas was a brick and block mason.
He was preceded in death by his father, Mitchell Emerson.
Survivors include his wife, Christy Smith Emerson; his children, Joshua Emerson, Courtney Emerson, Savannah Hardin and Victoria Hardin; six grandchildren; his mother, Carole Fitzgerald; his brothers, Rick Fitzgerald and wife Cindy, Neil Fitzgerald and wife Jennifer, Brad Emerson and wife Chuckey and Brian Emerson; one sister, Rachael Fitzgerald; several nieces and nephews; and his father and mother-in-law, J.D. and Regina Smith.
Funeral services will be conducted at 2 p.m. Thursday, March 3, at Memorial Funeral Chapel with Pastor Dean Presnell officiating. Interment will follow in the Johnson Roan View Cemetery, Roan Mountain. Active pallbearers will be J.D. Smith, John Smith, Jared Potter, Rick Arnett, Brayden Hardin and Scott Adkins.
