Linda Kay Simerly Birchfield, 69, of Hampton, Tenn., went home to be with her Lord and Saviour and her son, Brian Chambers, surrounded by her loving husband and family by her side, on March 7, 2022, at Sycamore Shoals Hospital.
A native of Carter County, she spent all of her life in her hometown. She was the daughter of the late Albert and Marie Street Simerly.
Linda was a dedicated Christian and a member of Friendship Fellowship Church, Watauga, Tenn. She enjoyed going on outings, trips and mini-vacations with friends, family or her Senior Class at church. She also loved to go shopping with anyone who was willing to go with her. Linda was a graduate of Cloudland High School.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a son, Brian Chambers, who passed away on March 3, 2022, at Johnson City Medical Center, and two brothers, Norman Simerly and D.C. Simerly.
Survivors include her husband of 47 years, Lawrence “L.J.” Birchfield; daughters, Chastity (Jonathan) Bowers and Jessica Birchfield; three grandsons, Allston Harrison, Blake King and Nicholas Bowers; one granddaughter and her fiancé, Kayla Marie Wiseman and Ethan Sanford; one sister, Shelby Hughes; five brothers, Harlan Simerly, Gary (Jeannie) Simerly, Brooks (Sandy) Simerly, Edward (Patricia) Simerly and Nick Simerly; a special niece, whom she enjoyed traveling with, Amy Simerly Campbell; six sisters-in-law, Kathy, Joyce, Judy, Jo, Shirley and Mary; her church family; many nieces, nephews and other family; and her fur baby Puffy and granddog Winston.
A celebration of life service will be at a later date.
Memorial Funeral Chapel is serving the Birchfield family.
