Phillip Wayne Whitehead, 76, of Elizabethton, passed away on March 17, 2022 at Johnson City Medical Center after a long battle with diabetes and dementia.
Phillip was a native of Carter County and a graduate of Elizabethton High School, Class of 1964. He was the son of the late Everett and Betty Jo Lyons Whitehead.
Phillip was preceded in death by his oldest brother, Rod.
Survivors include his brothers, James “Jimmy” and wife Reba, and Dillard and wife Kathy; his sister, Diane Bishop and husband Jim; and a sister-in-law, Trena.
Phillip served with the United States Army successfully completing a Wheel and Track Vehicle Course at Fort Knox, Ky. He served in Germany at the rank of E5 and was honorably discharged in 1968. After his military service, he attended ETSU and Steed College majoring in Business, Business Law as well as Finance and Principles of Management.
There will be a private family service with interment to follow in the Whitehead Family Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, Phillip’s family asks that donations made in honor of Phillip’s memory go to the charity of your choice.
