Brian Keener has announced his candidacy for constable in the 6th District of Carter County in the Republican Primary May 3. The 6th District includes Valley Forge, Hampton, Little Milligan, Elk Mills and Poga.
Keener served as a full-time certified and sworn law enforcement officer. He has over 20 years experience in law enforcement/public safety, including three years as a criminal justice general instructor. Keener is a graduate of the North Carolina Law Enforcement Officer Training Academy after 690 hours of formal education. In addition, Keener has completed over 1,600 hours of inservice law enforcement and specialized training. He attended Mayland Community College and the University of Mount Olive.
During his career in law enforcement, Keener has worked in communications, detention, Drug Task Force, warrant squad, training, patrol, criminal investigations and administration.
Keener said he is running for this office in order to make a positive contribution to the citizens of the 6th District and to the communities by performing the sworn duties of the constable position. He further states that if elected he will patrol the district, answer calls for service, perform security checks of churches, schools, businesses and residences and will be available for funeral escorts upon request. Keener said he will assist all other agencies when called upon, including local fire departments, EMS and law enforcement.
If elected, Keener said he will be available to the citizens of the 6th District seven days a week, 24 hours a day.
