Holston Habitat for Humanity will mark the beginning of its latest Elizabethton home build with a groundbreaking geremony in partnership with Habitat homebuyer, Patti. The event will be held at the site of the future Habitat home, located at 608 Blevins Ave. The public is invited to join in the celebration at 10 a.m. Thursday, July 14, by either attending in person or viewing the event on Facebook Live.
Holston Habitat’s mission is to put God’s love into action by bringing people together to build homes, communities and hope. Patti will be the 26th family served in Carter County through Holston Habitat’s Homeownership Program. In the coming weeks volunteers from several Elizabethton businesses, churches, and community organizations will join together to begin construction on Patti’s affordable 2-bedroom Habitat home. “We’re really excited to be building again in Carter County,” says Holston Habitat’s Volunteer Manager, Mandy Penz. “Although Elizabethton is a small town, its residents are always willing to roll up their sleeves and give back in a big way!”
Patti’s build is sponsored by Sam, Chris, Steve, and Joe LaPorte in memory of their Uncle Charles “Dude” LaPorte.
Community members are invited to sign-up to volunteer by visiting www.HolstonHabitat.org. Businesses, churches and organizations interested in participating on site as a group can reserve team-building days by contacting Volunteer Manager, Mandy Penz, at 423-239-7689 ext. 801 or by emailing volunteer@holstonhabitat.org.
