Dallas Webster Hughes, 77, of Hudson, N.C., passed away Monday, July 18, 2022, at his residence. He was born in Roan Mountain, Tenn., on October 9, 1944 to the late Clyde B. Hughes and A. Viola Putman Hughes. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by four sisters, Betty June Gouge, Emma Jean Deetz, Shelby Jean Brumit and Joyce Thomas, and two brothers, Sidney “Dee” Hughes and Russell W. Hughes.
Survivors include his wife of 52 years, Carolyn Price Hughes, of the home; one son, Greg Hughes and wife Nicole; one daughter, Sarah Hawkins and husband Marty; one brother, Brother Al Hughes; two sisters, Lola Guyn and husband Jim and Frances Lois Taylor; brother and sisters-in-law, Ray Hollar and wife Shirley, Johnnie Coffey and wife Cathy, Dean Price and wife Kim, Dwight Price and wife Nicole, and JR Gouge; three grandchildren, Mason Hughes, Catherine Hughes and Matthew Hawkins; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be Sunday, July 24, at 3 p.m. at Union Grove Baptist Church with Rev. Sam Craven, Rev. Dwight Price and Rev. Jeff Lambert officiating. Interment will be at Mountain Home National Cemetery in Johnson City, Tenn., on Monday, July 25, at 1 p.m. The family will receive friends at the church one hour prior to the service from 2 until 3 p.m. The family would like to give special thanks to special friends, Ally Johnson, Patty Cox and Kim Grigg, also the VA Hospital staff, Amorem Hospice staff and Advance Home Care for their care and compassion to Dallas and the family.
