Gregory Hunter Maney, 18, of Butler, went home to be with his Lord and Savior on Tuesday, August 2, 2022. He was born March 10, 2004 in Elizabethton.
Hunter was a 2022 graduate of Hampton High School and was a proud member of the Eastern Band of Cherokee Indians. He loved and adored his family and friends. Hunter loved the outdoors and his almighty Lord and Savior. He loved riding his motorcycle, hunting and fishing.
He was preceded in death by his maternal grandfather, Ulane Payne.
Those left to cherish his memory are his mother, Suzanne Payne (Patrick) of Butler; his father, Dale Maney (Kari) of Vilas, N.C.; his brother, Ashton Maney; his sisters, Sydney Miller and Mikalyn Maney; his maternal grandmother, Maureen Payne of Butler; his paternal grandfather, Greg Maney of Elizabethton; his grandmother, Florence Reed of Sevierville, Tenn.; and a special aunt, Sharon Payne, and uncle, Kenny Payne.
A graveside service will be conducted at 11:30 a.m. Monday, August 8, in the Payne Cemetery, Butler. Pallbearers will be selected from family and friends. The family would like to express a special thank you to the Carter County Rescue Squad. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 10 to 11 a.m. Monday.
