The Watauga Junior Athletic League kicked off the 2022 season with a jamboree on Saturday at Citizens Bank Stadium.

Teams from Hampton, Johnson County, Happy Valley, Cloudland, and Elizabethton were part of the jamboree which featured a 20-minute running clock with a water break for both teams at the 10:00 minute mark due to the heat.

The teams finally got the opportunity to go against someone in a different color uniform after preparing in practice sessions leading up to the annual kickoff event.

Parents and friends were treated to some great football from the young players while each team’s cheerleaders were on hand to bring spirit to the contests.

Regular-season action kicks off in earnest on Saturday with games scheduled throughout the Tri-Cities.
