The Covered Bridge Park Stage will bedazzle the crowd when lovely ladies gather Sept. 10 in hopes of being crowned a queen during the Miss Relay For Life Pageant.
The pageant will donate $100 to the American Cancer Society with the community’s support of collecting $1 votes and placing them on their favorite contestants. The contestant with the most $1 votes will win a gorgeous crown.
“This pageant not only is donating to the American Cancer Society, but giving survivors and family the opportunity to bring attention to this worthy cause,” said Director Amy Simmons. “This will be the very first Miss Relay For Life Pageant held here in Elizabethton, and we invite the community to come out in support of this worthy event. As World’s Classic Ms. United States, I am honored to be directing a pageant with such meaning and heart. So many people are touched by cancer in so many ways.”
There will be six queens crowned, one in each age division, which spans from birth to age 80. Two Over-All Photogenic queens will be crowned and the prestigious People’s Choice queen will be announced.
Age groups are as follows:
• Wee Miss Relay For Life – Birth-2
• Tiny Miss Relay For Life – Ages 3-5
• Little Miss Relay For Life – Ages 6-10
• Junior Miss Relay For Life – Ages 11-15
• Senior Miss Relay For Life – Ages 16-20
• Elegant Ms. Relay For Life – Ages 21 to 80
Special side sashes will be awarded by national title holder judges and at check-in, each contestant will receive a Miss Relay For Life Pageant Certificate, a Flower Hope Halo and a Silver Dedication Star, where contestants may write-in the name of someone who has been touched by cancer.
“The contestants will shine a beautiful light for this cause,” Simmons added, saying each contestant’s star on stage will be dedicated to or in the memory of someone who fought cancer or is still fighting.
Judges include Simmons, World’s Classic Ms. United States Tourism/All Stars Classic; Ms. Universe DeAnna Greer, also Miss Memphis in affiliation with the Miss America Pageant; Kaylee Hollifield, Miss USAmerifest/Miss Tennessee; Grand Supreme Johnnie Carrico, Worlds Mrs. Valley Ridge Tourism; Krystie Beale, Miss Appalachia; Rhonda Mullins, former NFL Cheerleader for the Miami Dolphins, San Francisco 49ers, Dallas pre-games and the New England Patriots.
