Phyllis Jane Byrd Hardin, 81, Hampton, passed away Sunday, September 11, 2022, at Sycamore Shoals Hospital. She was born February 28, 1941 in Unicoi County, Tenn., to the late Ira and Avanell Smith Byrd.
Phyllis was a graduate of Unicoi County High School. She was formerly employed at Industrial Garments, Mayes Brothers, American Air Filter and Winn-Dixie. She loved to work in her garden, flowers and cook.
Phyllis was a member of Blue Springs Christian Church.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her first husband, Roger McKinney, and four sisters.
Survivors include her husband, Grant Hardin; her children, Suzanne Williams, Kingsport, Gregory (Tracy) McKinney, Hampton, Angie (Wayne) Shingleton, Cindy Canter and Jamey (Paige) Hardin, all of Elizabethton; seven grandchildren, Madison McKinney, Elijah Shingleton, Zack Hardin, Keaton Shingleton, Levi Shingleton, Megan Hoilman and Timothy Hoilman; and one great-granddaughter, Aliyah Lewis.
Funeral services will be conducted at 2 p.m. Thursday, September 15, at Memorial Funeral Chapel with Mr. Richard Thomason, minister, officiating. Interment will follow in the McKinney Cemetery, Hampton. Active pallbearers will be selected from family and friends. Honorary pallbearers will be her church family.
