UHS Quarterback Club hosted the 1st Annual Ranger Run 5K Fundraiser on Saturday, September 17, in Stoney Creek. You couldn’t have asked for a better or more beautiful morning for runners from around the Tri-Cities to compete. The run started at Unaka High School around 8:00 am; by 1:00 pm, the winner was Chad Lewis. The Unaka Football Program will use the proceeds from the fundraiser to purchase new equipment, supplies and uniforms and has many behind-the-scenes costs to ensure the safety of all those participating and attending a football game. The UHS Quarterback Club is always looking for new ways to offset those costs. In the effort to promote physical activity, while supporting a local high school program, the UHS Quarterback Club hosted the Ranger Run!
The overall winner was Chad Lewis, running in the 30-39 division with a time of 22 minutes and 13 seconds. In the 14 and under age bracket, Oden Parlier and Clint Buckles turned in times of 57 minutes flat. In the 15-19 age bracket, Bo Markland finished with a time of 51:04. In the 40-49 age bracket, Nathan Emmert crossed the line first with a time of 25:35. Scott Graham was the winner of the 50-59 bracket with a time of 28:24 and Curtis Akars carried the torch in the 70+ bracket with a 28 minute and 43-second finish. The Unaka Rangers would like to thank the Carter County Sheriff’s office for ensuring a safe and successful morning!
