Keith Hertzog returned to Keenburg Elementary School after 40 plus years — not as a teacher or a principal, but as Mental Health educator with the Mental Health Association of East Tennessee. While at the school he taught students the basics of mental health, aiming to decrease the stigma associated with mental health conditions, give them the tools needed to recognize when they or a friend may be dealing with mental health struggles, share examples of healthy coping skills, and prevent suicide among youth.
