More than 20 wrestlers and two referees donated their time to help Mike Hodge raise money for a kidney. Nearly 300 fans showed up to help support Hodge, a benefit made possible by the Carter County Sports Hall of Fame. The show was held at Unaka High School this past Saturday night. Unaka Principal Mike Ensor and A.D. Wes Wright were big supporters of the event. “Wrestlers are just people like us,” Dixie Championship Wrestling representative Kim Birchfield said. “They give every chance they can from Legend Don Wright to newcomers like Heavyweight Champion Evan Golden.” Amarr through Rocky Top Garage Doors and several local businesses made it possible for Hodge to have all the proceeds towards his goal. Hodge was thankful for their help and wanted to thank everyone for their support.
