Helen Berry, 91, of Elizabethton, Tenn., went home to be with her Lord and Savior on Monday, November 14, 2022, at Hillview Health and Rehabilitation Center of Elizabethton. Helen was born in Carter County to the late Paul and June (Williams) Perry. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 56 years, Carl Thomas Berry; a sister, Louise Wilson; a brother, Dr. E.E. “Ed” Perry; and a son-in-law, Michael Williams.
Helen was a kind hearted, devoted wife and mother with a good sense of humor. She was a housewife and a member of True Gospel Baptist Church. She loved attending church and being with family.
Those left to cherish and remember Helen’s memory include three sons and one daughter, Rick and Diane Berry, Tonie Williams, Keith and Debbie Berry and James and Penny Berry; her grandchildren, Sara (Stephen) Wagner, Jessica (Phillip) Manning, Christen Williams and Dr. Amy (Matt) Gravitte; her great-grandchildren, McKenzie Storie, Lawson Wagner, Marley Wagner, and soon to arrive, Laurel Mae Gravitte; and her sisters-in-law, Barbara Berry and Nancy Berry.
A service to celebrate Helen’s life will be conducted at 7 p.m. Thursday, November 17, in the Chapel of Peace at Tetrick Funeral Home of Elizabethton with Pastor Dean Presnell officiating. Music will be under the direction of Johnny Palmer. The family will receive friends in the funeral home chapel from 5 until 7 p.m. Thursday, prior to the service.
The graveside service will be conducted at 11 a.m. Friday, November 18, at Happy Valley Memorial Park. Active pallbearers will be Rick Berry, James Berry, Phillip Manning, Keith Berry, Steven Wagner and Lawson Wagner. Honorary pallbearers will be the men of True Gospel Baptist Church. Those wishing to attend the graveside service are asked to meet at Tetrick Funeral Home of Elizabethton at 10:15 a.m. Friday to go in procession to the cemetery. Those who prefer memorials in lieu of flowers may make donations in Helen’s honor to the True Gospel Baptist Church, 1028 Gap Creek Road, Elizabethton, TN 37643. A special thank you to Helen’s friend and neighbor, Patsy Lyons, and to all the workers and staff of Hillview Health and Rehabilitation Center for the care and love shown to Helen during her illness.
