Isabelle Shayne Ray, 18, of Elizabethton, Tenn., went home to be with the Lord on Wednesday, November 16, 2022. She was the daughter of Lisa Sue Ray Cox and the late Jerry Lee Ray. Isabelle was a senior at Hampton High School and worked at Black Olive and Tijuana’s Restaurant for almost a year. She enjoyed riding horses, being outdoors, watching and making Tik Tok videos and listening to Kid G and Morgan Wallen. She loved her family and friends more than anything; especially her big brother, who was her hero along with her other siblings. Isabelle spent a lot of her time with her “Trio” which was her best friends, Raven and Sierra Richardson.
In addition to her father, she was preceded in death by her grandparents, Ruby and Sam Whitehead; special aunt, Iva Jean Lyons; great-grandparents, Iva Lee Markland and Gurney Markland; uncles, Kevin Whitehead and Billy Markland; and great-grandfather, Ronnie Birchfield.
Those left to cherish her memory are her mother, Lisa Ray Cox; grandparents, Linda Birchfield, Roger Whitehead and Margaret Whitehead; brothers, Joshua Ray and wife Christine, Thomas Ray Cox III and Jordan Whitehead; sister, Amy Shayna Ray; aunts, Crystal Whitehead and Kayla Whitehead; cousin, Mike Campbell; special friends, Savannah Pruitt, Austin Whitson, Jacob Whitson, Lexi Campbell, Brooke Campbell, Connie Scott, Katlynn Green, Tim Ward, Lydia Ward, Brian Bowers, Ashley Carver, Lori and Dave Long, Earl and Jan Gentry and other friends, classmates of Hampton High School and co-workers who are all special to her.
A service to celebrate the life of Isabelle Shayne Ray will be held at 7 p.m. Monday, November 21, in the Sunset Chapel of Hathaway-Percy Funeral Home with Pastor Paul Seefelt officiating. The family will receive friends between the hours of 5 and 7 p.m. Monday, prior to the service.
The graveside service and committal will be held at 10 a.m. Tuesday, November 22, in the Whitehead Cemetery, Roan Mountain. Active pallbearers will be Coby Tolley, Jacob Whitson, Austin Whitson, Brian Bowers, Carl Little, Andy Stout, Clifford Whitehead and Calvin Conner. Honorary pallbearer will be Crystal Whitehead. Those who wish to attend the graveside service are asked to meet at the funeral home at 9 a.m. Tuesday to go in procession to the cemetery. The family would like to give a special thanks to the staff of Johnson City Medical Center, Elizabethton Fire Department and Pastor Paul Seefelt for all their loving care and support during this difficult time.
