Skate by the Doe returned to the Covered Bridge Park for a second year.
Presented by Carter County Bank, the open air synthetic rink opened Nov. 26 and tickets are available online.
The rink has doubled in size to accommodate more participants. The rink is also available to privately rent out for parties and celebrations.
Jennifer Greenwell, public relations and event manager for Carter County Bank, said the rink has been a positive addition to the community. “It’s a beautiful rink and scenery, but it’s also the fun sense of community. If we learned anything after COVID it’s that we need each other now more than ever so the opportunity for us to sponsor this where the community can come together and have fun in an open and safe environment with such a beautiful view. .. I just think it doesn’t get much better than that,” said Greenwell.
The outdoor ice rink is located down the block from an 80-foot Fraser fir which was brought to life with Christmas lights last week. Christmas lights also decorate the rest of downtown Elizabethton, providing an atmosphere filled with holiday spirit.
“To get downtown and experience our town and see what Elizabethton has to offer, that’s one of the main reasons we are sponsoring this — to draw people into the area so they can see that Elizabethton plays a big role in the Tri-Cities,” said Andrew McKeehan, president of Carter County Bank. In sponsorship with other local associations such as Elizabethton Parks and Recreation and the Elizabethton Chamber of Commerce, Skate by the Doe is anticipating a larger attendance and hoping to attract people from all over the Tri-Cities and beyond.
“We plan to sponsor this event for years to come,” said McKeehan.
Skate by the Doe tickets are now available online at SkatebytheDoe.com and the rink will be open throughout the holiday season.
