JOHNSON CITY — East Tennessee State University’s Office of Professional Development will offer its three-month Pharmacy Technician Certification Training Course starting Feb. 7.
The class, limited to 35 students, will provide an overview of skills and knowledge required to assist pharmacists in handling medications and serving patients in retail and hospital pharmacy settings. Those who pass the Pharmacy Technician Certification Board (PTCB) examination become nationally certified, and the course offers sessions to accommodate new PTCB requirements.
Registration for the class is $500 by Jan. 31; the fee is $600 after that date. The registration fee includes the textbook. Participants will need to bring a four-function calculator and notebook to the class. The PTCB exam requires a separate fee of $129.
Class sessions will be held from 6-9 p.m. every Tuesday and Thursday from Feb. 7-May 9 (location TBA). The course is non-credit and open to the general public.
