The congregation of Calvary Baptist Church, Elizabethton, has called Matt Swain as its new pastor. Pastor Swain and his wife, Becky, come to Calvary from Lake Asbury Baptist Church in Green Cove Springs, Fla., where he has served for the past eight years.
Additionally, Pastor Swain has served as senior pastor at Brewer Lake Baptist Church and St. John’s Baptist Church in Florida.
He has served four terms on the Florida Baptist State Board of Missions and has led mission teams to Uganda, New Orleans, Miami, Freeport, Honduras, Nicaragua, and Freeport. He has also led disaster relief efforts in Louisiana, Florida, Kentucky, and West Virginia.
Pastor Swain during his ministry has served passionately to mentor, preach, and build relationships.
He obtained his B.A. degree from Pensacola Christian College and has also attended New Orleans Baptist Theological Seminary.
Pastor Matt and Becky are the parents of three children: Ben (Mary Grace), Drew, and Rachel, and have one grandson, Jude.
The congregation invites the public to worship with them at 225 Holly Lane. Sunday services include Sunday School and small groups at 9:45 a.m.; morning worship at 11 a.m. and the Wednesday service at 6:30 p.m.
