Getting your Trinity Audio player ready...

By LORIE ANN SIMPSON
I remember discussing this in a past column — my dream of becoming a writer. This dream is one I have had since I was a little girl. During my childhood, I would always enjoy writing assignments my teachers would assign. Then I got married, and my son came along, so writing was a pushed-aside hobby. It wasn’t until I went through a tough time that I returned to writing. I needed a diversion from the tragedy that was unfolding in my life, so I created characters and a world to escape. After my divorce, I met a very extraordinary man named Tim. He is a successful author with many books published. I told him about the book I had started writing, and he offered to help me publish it. I told him that I wrote now just for fun. Mine would never be good enough ever to be published.

As we talked and got to know each other more, we fell in love; he is now my husband. We have so much in common. We love to sit and work on our writing projects together. With his support and encouragement, I finally finished writing my book. Also, with his help, I am now a published author. Words cannot express how I feel knowing something I love doing is out in the world for others to read. My lifelong dream is now a reality. It is so surreal. It is very humbling when I read reviews about my book. People say how much they enjoy reading; that just touches my heart.

My book is a Christian suspense romance mystery. The title is Saving Faith. It takes place in the town of Mahogany Bay, S.C. A serial killer is afoot, targeting women of this small coastal community. He has his eyes set on Faith Deene to be the next part of his mission, as he calls it. Can Detective Dakota McClane save Faith from becoming the killer’s next victim? It is a journey with excitement and soul searching.

I want my actions to point to God in every project I attempt. I hope this book accomplishes that. God gets all the glory because, without Him, nothing is possible. In this book, the readers will see how God helps the people of Mahogany Bay deal with tragedies and the out-of-control feelings we sometimes have. Also, readers will see how the characters rely on God in times of fear. In addition, they will see how a small community rallies around those who are hurting.
