The region 1-1A playoffs began on Friday at Van Huss / White gymnasium and in blowout fashion the Hampton Lady Bulldogs dominated Hancock County 86-25 to advance to the semifinal on Monday at Westridge High School.
“Our pressure defense bothered Hancock early,” Lady Bulldogs head coach Brandon Carpenter said. “We were able to get some easy baskets and rest our starters in the second half. My second team did a really good job, and coach (Tyler) Chambers does a good job with them. Hannah (Smith) can shoot the ball really well and we gave everyone a chance to play.”
Smith came off the bench in the third quarter and nailed four treys and scored 14 points for the Lady ‘Dogs. Senior point guard Madison McClain had a game-high 18 points and knocked down three trey’s in her time on the court.

With the starters on the bench, the ‘Dogs extended their advantage to 81-20 going into the fourth quarter. Madeline Dalton scored eight points to lead Hancock County with Madison Jarnigan adding seven and Raegan Collins had six points for the Tribe.
