Deputies of the Carter County Sheriff’s Office are investigating an incident that occurred Tuesday, March 7, where a 911 caller reported a family member stole his vehicle at gunpoint after threatening him with the rifle.
On March 7, at approximately 12:30 p.m. CCSO deputies responded to a home on Weaver Hill Road after a 911 caller reported a family member had threatened him with a firearm and taken his vehicle without permission.
When officers arrived on scene they spoke with the 911 caller, who reported he was working outside his home when his step-son came outside and began loading items into the caller’s vehicle. The caller said his step-son had previously damaged the vehicle so he had hidden the keys to keep him from taking the car again.
The man told deputies he told his step-son that he could not take the car and his step-son became irate. The man said his step-son retrieved a rifle, fired a shot from it, and then threatened to kill him. The man said he eventually gave his step-son the keys and his step-son held him at gunpoint and forced him to go back inside his home. The man said his step-son then fled the residence, taking the rifle and the caller’s vehicle, a 2018 white Ford Fiesta.
Deputies are still investigating the incident and charges are pending at this time.
