Several departments at East Tennessee State University with the help of community leaders will host a veterans fair at the Millennium Center in Johnson City on Monday, March 27, from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. The event is free to veterans and their families. This is a new type of event that was developed due to conversations that discovered there was a need for better communications and networking among veteran organizations. During the collaborative planning, it was realized this was a reflection of the greater need for community building in the veteran community – thus creating the largest veteran event in this region.
This will not be the standard veteran fair. Aside from commonly known groups like the VA and VFW, there will also be over 50 other local and national level veteran service organizations in attendance. These service organizations address multiple aspects of veteran social life from peer groups and mental health services to VSOs focusing on veteran families and communities. The fair also will be hosting a variety of informational panels and presentations throughout the day.
