Senior photography major Dawson Jacobs will present his senior photography exhibition in the Milligan Art Gallery in Derthick Hall from March 19-24. An opening reception will be held Sunday, March 19, from 2-4 p.m.
The exhibition, “The Texture of Time,” explores the effects of time and features photographs of dilapidated structures and places in a state of decay.
“Time is everywhere,” said Jacobs. “Anything we attempt to create ultimately succumbs to time: colors fade, metal rusts and buildings fall apart. My photography seeks to temporarily stop time and to appreciate its beauty or marvel at its harshness.” Jacobs is a photography and English major from Bluff City. His work has been displayed in Milligan’s juried art exhibition and several “Two Cats + A Herd of Buffalo” art shows at Dos Gatos Coffee Bar in Johnson City.
“I have developed a love of photography that captures a sense of documentary realism,” said Jacobs. “I am really grateful and excited for the opportunity to display work that showcases what I have learned.”
The exhibition and opening reception are free and open to the public.
