Carter County Schools announces Registration Days for 2023-24 School Year

The Carter County School System will hold 2023-2024 registration for Kindergarten, Head Start, and Pre-K at the Elizabethton Parks and Recreation Building, 300 W. Mill St., Elizabethton, from 7 a.m. until 2 p.m. on the following dates, which are assigned to specific schools.
• Tuesday, April 4 – Hampton Elementary, Little Milligan Elementary, and Valley Forge Elementary
• Wednesday, April 5 – Hunter Elementary, Unaka Elementary, and Keenburg Elementary, Cloudland Elementary
• Thursday, April 6 – Happy Valley Elementary and Central Elementary
Please bring your child with you to registration. Various screening activities will take place, including: hearing, vision, and speech/language.
Families registering for these programs should provide the following:
• Head Start Registration: The child must be 4 years old by August 15, 2023. Eligible 3-year-old children (must be 3 before August 15, 2023) will be enrolled if space is available. A Birth Certificate, Social Security Card, TN Permanent Record of Immunizations, and PROOF OF ANNUAL INCOME (Current W2, Tax Documents, Government Assistance Documents, etc.) are needed for registrations. • Pre-K Registration: The child must be 4 years old by August 15, 2023. A Birth Certificate, Social Security Card, TN Permanent Record of Immunizations, and PROOF OF ANNUAL INCOME (Current W2, Tax Documents, Government Assistance Documents, etc.) are needed for registrations. • Kindergarten Registration: You will need to bring the child’s Birth Certificate, Social Security Card, TN Permanent Record of Immunizations and Guardianship Documents. These are needed for registration. For more information, please call 423-547-2412
• Child Find is an ongoing effort of the Special Education Department to locate children between the ages of 3-21 who have disability or are intellectually gifted and are not enrolled in a school program. To receive special services a child must exhibit a need in one or more of the following areas: developmental delay, intellectually deficient, visual, orthopedic, health, speech/language, or hearing impairments, deafness, deaf-blindness, traumatic brain injury, emotional disturbance, specific learning disability, functional delay, autism, intellectually gifted, or multiple disabilities.
