They may not be the family showcased on the highly watched Blue Bloods drama series on television, but the Croy family knows what it means to keep serving the community as police officers as a family business.
The newest Croy member to join the ranks was Rocky Matthew Croy, Jr., who took his oath of office on Monday morning inside the Council Chambers at Elizabethton City Hall.
Preston Cobb, City of Elizabethton Clerk, administered the oath while family, friends, and members of the EPD were on hand for the ceremony.
Croy, Jr. became a fourth generation law enforcement officer following in the footsteps of his father, Captain Matthew Croy, Sr., who was sworn in as a Captain in 2022 and has served the EPD since 2007.
Croy, Jr.’s grandfather, Rocky Croy, retired from the CCSD and his great-grandfather, Clyde Croy, retired as a Captain at EPD serving the City from 1977 to 2005.
He is a graduate of Hampton High School where he played basketball for the Bulldogs.
