Elizabethton will be the site of a patriotic military charity event for Armed Forces Day on May 20 at the Elizabethton Parks & Recreation stage.
On that day, the “Miss America the Beautiful Patriotic and Crown All Pageant” will begin at 11 a.m., with check-in beginning at 10:30 a.m.
“A heartfelt charitable donation will be made to the nonprofit military family organization ‘Blue Star Mothers of America,’” said Director Amy Simmons, who serves as the “World’s Classic Ms. United States Tourism 2023/Classic Ms. Universe All-Stars 2023” representative. “A contestant is welcome to dedicate their participation to any veteran or maybe a family member currently in the military. There will be stars to write their names on, and these will be used to decorate the stage to honor our armed forces.”
The entry fee is $65, which includes patriotic wear, formal wear, most photogenic and any Judges’ Choice awards. The deadline to enter is May 6 for entry fee and form. Extra photos are $5.
Ages divisions include the following:
  • Birth-2 years old
  • 3-5 years old
  • 6-10 years old
  • 11-15 years old
  • 16-19 years old
  • 20-29 years old
  • 30-plus years old
All contestants will appear before judges in a patriotic outfit of the contestant’s choice, then formal dress. All photogenic pictures, which can be professional or amateur shots sized at least 5-by-7, must be turned in at check-in.
There will be a “Miss America The Beautiful” Queen crowned in each division with a rhinestone crown given to all of the Miss America The Beautiful princesses in the Queens’ Court age division. Scores determine court title.
  • Grand Over-All Miss America The Beautiful receives a large patriotic crown.
  • Grand Over-All Miss America The Beautiful Photogenic receives a large rhinestone crown.
  • Miss America The Beautiful receives a 10-inch People’s Patriotic Choice Queen crown and a queen’s robe. This winner is the one who collected the most $1 votes from supporters. These votes must be brought to check-in. There will be individual contestant bags for votes.
A portion of the collected $1 votes will go toward the military nonprofit charity Blue Star Mother’s of America Inc.
The over-all queens from this pageant are welcomed to make an appearance to help host the “Miss Firecracker Pageant” at the Elizabethton Independence Day Celebration.
