The Drop Collaborative announces the spring 2023 opening of the Harmony Garden on Stoney Creek.
The Harmony Garden is a program designed for both youth and the senior population. It is currently a model program at the Drop Collaborative’s Stoney Creek homesite, and incorporates teaching gardening, music, aromatherapy, art respite, partnering with nonprofits and small business, donating harvest to the community, and mentoring youth.
The Drop Collaborative’s Supervised Agricultural Experience High School Model is a Senior in High School Program, which allows students to experience the diversity of agriculture and natural resources industry and to gain exposure to agriculture-related career pathways.
Locally, Amy Coy, program coordinator, has assembled from the community approximately 10 children, ages two to 10, and ages 70-93 to be part of Harmony Garden 2023.
Now with hands-on, participants will build together as they go along, the Harmony Garden on Stoney Creek.
Local community neighbors are providing water access, restroom facilities, additional tools, plants, and seeds as needed, instruction in canning, instruction in making nutritional meals from produce, and access to additional fun and farm related activities.
Participation is ffee and the Harmony Garden management team and crew are volunteers.
Children will learn all about gardening and farming – and our seniors will not only participate hands on, but will also share their vast knowledge in all things gardening, farming, repurposing, sustainability, and community.
The harvest will be donated to participants, local churches and other local partners for those less fortunate and in need.
This is a maiden voyage for the Stoney Creek Harmony Garden.
