A retail shopping center under construction in Elizabethton will feature a new Pizza Hut, a tobacco store and a third unidentified business.
Work began recently on the new center at the corner of Broad Street and Elm Street, adjacent to the Regions Bank. It will feature three retail units, according to a “coming soon” sign at the construction site.
A new Pizza Hut has been confirmed to occupy one of the center’s units.
Chris Bachelor, the regional vice president for Tasty Hut LLC, said the new location should open by September, but construction is not yet far enough along to provide an exact opening date. Tasty Hut LLC operates more than 150 Pizza Hut restaurants across the country, including the current Elizabethton location.
“We will be relocating the current Pizza Hut to this new location,” Bachelor said.
Pizza Hut will move from its location at 415 W. Elk Avenue because its current lease has expired, Bachelor said.
The new location will likely hire new employees.
“We are always hiring new employees,” Bachelor said. “With the opening of the new location, I would expect to have to add some additional employees.”
The new location, which will include a drive-thru, will offer the same Pizza Hut menu as the Elk Avenue location. Bachelor said the new restaurant will feature updated décor such as booths, tables, chairs and televisions.
A new Tri-City Wholesale Tobacco store will occupy another unit in the retail center, according to the “coming soon” sign, and another 2,000 square foot unit remains available.
The center is being built by Superior Construction Group and has been designed by Mike Stone Architect, the sign states.
