Lady Bulldogs pick up second win of the season

The Hampton Lady Bulldogs picked up their second win of the season, defeating Tri-Cities Christian 7-2 on Monday night. After giving up a walk to start the game, Hampton’s Cheyenne Fair would strike out three of the next four batters to hold the Lady Eagles scoreless in the first. Abby Willis and Ryleigh Nickles would lead the bottom of the first with back-to-back singles, with both scoring to give the Lady Bulldogs a 2-0 lead.
In the top of the second, Tri-Cities Christian would leave two runners stranded after receiving two walks. With two outs in the bottom of the second, Hampton would get singles from Anna Hatley, Willis and Nickles but would leave the bases loaded. Both teams were held scoreless in the third. The Lady Bulldogs would extend their lead to 4-0 after Lacey Smith and Maleah Scalf singles. Briley Davis would relieve Fair in the fourth to hold the Eagles scoreless in the fourth and fifth. Hampton would score three insurance runs in the bottom of the fifth off a double by Abby Guy and a single by Lillian Andrews to take a commanding 7-0 lead. Tri-Cities Christian would score one run in the sixth and seventh to end the game at 7-2.
