The Lady Cyclones celebrated their Senior Night with an 11-1 blowout win over Cherokee. After a first-inning score by the Chiefs, the Lady Cyclones would respond with 10 unanswered runs in the first three innings. Freshmen Lela Byrd would shut out the Chiefs after the first inning giving up just three hits and one earned run in the game; she would chalk up nine strikeouts to add to her tally. Elizabethton’s seniors would all take part in the rout.
The first inning would see Cheyenne Poiroux and Ember Jensen get back-to-back singles to left and then senior Kenidy Harris would follow with a homer to straightaway center to put the Lady Cyclones up 3-1. After keeping the Chiefs quiet in the top of the second, the Lady Cyclones would go back to work. Lana Ward would start things off by hitting a double to the right field gap; she would then be plated by a hard grounder that ricocheted off the glove of the Chiefs second baseman. Senior Ember Jensen would then knock her home with a blooper over the head of the Chiefs shortstop to make the new score 5-1.
The Lady Cyclones would leave no doubt in the bottom of the third inning, scoring five to put it away. Sadie Williams and Lela Byrd would hit back-to-back homers to start the inning and then Lana Ward would follow with another double to right and then score off a single from Emma O’Quinn. After seniors Jensen, Ingram, Harris and Poiroux would reach base off two singles and two walks, Molly Johnson would plate two more with a line drive shot, making the score 10-0. All in all, the Lady Cyclones would have 19 hits in the contest; Jensen and Harris would lead the way with three hits each.
After the contest, Lady Cyclones Head Coach Kenny Hardin would reflect on his seniors, “What a group of  young  ladies great in the classroom and in the community and always working on the field to get better; they will be sorely missed.” The Lady Cyclones will travel to Morristown East on Wednesday and start tournament play next Tuesday at Unicoi as the two-seed against the three-seed Unicoi.
