You read that right. It’s called “From,” the new series my wife and I have been watching. We were told of its existence by a friend my wife works with; she said it was a scary TV show; yay for me, not so much for Lorie; she is not of the horror-loving Freddy Kruger watching group – a group that I gleefully belong. I have always loved horror movies and TV shows. I watched The Walking Dead until every season began repeating itself, but let’s be honest, it started pretty quickly, like, say, season two. But I digress. As I said before, I love horror movies. As a child, my brother would go trick-or-treating, and I would stay home and record the best old horror movies on VHS – yes, that old. I loved Peter Cushing’s Van Helsing to Christopher Lee’s Dracula.
Then there was Nightmare on Elm Street and Friday the 13th, or Halloween. When I first saw these, I was around seven or eight, and they scared me to death. This was way, way back in the mid-’80s, again old. But this show “From” has kept us on the edge of our seats from the first episode. We started season one on a Friday and finished on a Monday. We couldn’t stop watching.
So what makes it so great? The mystery, and of course the monster that eats people at night – but the unknown, that’s what’s so fun about it. The actors are great. The story keeps spinning a web of mystery as to why, how, and when. Lorie and I have our theories about what is taking place, and from the looks of things, neither one of us will be correct. And that is fine with me; the show is fun and exciting, with a bit of horror mixed in for good measure. There are some genuine chills that any horror loving fanatic like myself will appreciate. So we recommend if you want to watch something different, check it out on MGM+. We think you will love it. But beware, there are creepy spiders!
