Elizabethton/Carter County Youth Baseball and Softball Association has had a couple of very strong seasons with greater participation; with this in mind, they are going to extend their calendar and add a fall ball schedule to it. The season will run from August 1st through the end of October and place a higher emphasis on instruction, with games played on Monday, Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday to not interfere with football games in the area.
Sign-ups will be coordinated with the end of the season spring tournament, which starts on May 22 and continues through June 30. In addition, there will be opportunities for signups during the coaches’ game this Saturday which will be held this Saturday at Riverside Park/Joe O’Brien Field at 4 pm. Age groups will be as follows: Baseball 6-9 and 10-13 and Softball 6-9 and 10-13. ECCYBS Board member Gary Sams shared why he thinks this is an important step for the league “Since the season started, we have had parents asking about a fall league, we understand that football is king in the fall but there are a lot of kids who don’t play football. There is a lot of excitement about doing this and we know too that it will give kids a chance to be involved in baseball and softball that typically wouldn’t have that opportunity.
If you have any questions, you can contact the league through their Facebook page or you can call Sams at (423)268-1630.
