Youth Baseball and Softball Association plans Fall ball season

Elizabethton/Carter County Youth Baseball and Softball Association has had a couple of very strong seasons with greater participation; with this in mind, they are going to extend their calendar and add a fall ball schedule to it. The season will run from August 1^st through the end of October and place a higher emphasis on instruction, with games played on Monday, Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday to not interfere with football games in the area.

Sign-ups will be coordinated with the end of the season spring tournament, which starts on May 22 and continue^s through June 30. In addition, there will be opportunities for signups during the coaches’ game this Saturday which will be held this Saturday at Riverside Park/Joe O’Brien Field at 4 pm. Age groups will be as follows: Baseball 6-9 and 10-13 and Softball 6-9 and 10-13. ECCYBS Board member Gary Sams shared why he thinks this is an important step for the league “Since the season started, we have had parents asking about a fall league, we understand that football is king in the fall but there are a lot of kids who don’t play football. There is a lot of excitement about doing this and we know too that it will give kids a chance to be involved in baseball and softball that typically wouldn’t have that opportunity.
