Mary “Pauline” Price Holdren, 98, Elizabethton, went to be with the Lord, Wednesday, May 31, 2023, at home with her family. Pauline was the daughter of the late Rosie Bell and Banner Lee Price. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her step-mother, Iona Price; her husband of 50 years, Matthew E. Holdren; son, John David Holdren; seven brothers, Elbert Price, Paul Price, Charles “Louie” Price, Calvin Lee Price, Noah Tyree, Fred Tyree and Wilburn Tyree; and three sisters, Genevieve Rodifer, Sherry Price and Georgia Jackson.
Those left to cherish her wonderful memories are two sons, Robert Mack (Shirley) Holdren and Billy Jack Holdren, both of Elizabethton; grandchildren, Paula Holdren (Jeff) Lewis, Elizabethton, William Matthew (Deanna) Holdren, Lincolnton, N.C., and Warren Holdren and family; great-grandchildren, Ridge Lewis, Elizabethton, Dylan and Taylor Holdren, Knoxville, Christian, Isaiah, Chloe and Britten Holdren, all of North Carolina; one great-great-grandson of Knoxville; sisters, Elsie Thompson of Florida, Eva DeBusk and Cathy Wilson, both of Erwin, Jewel (Jerrell) Peterson, Green Mountain, N.C., JoAnna Hammonds, Jonesborough, Margaret Wilson and Verdia (Richard) Campbell of Unicoi; a brother, David (Teresa) Price, Unicoi; foster sister, Mary Peters, Elizabethton; and several nieces and nephews.
Pauline was a homemaker. She was a Charter Member of Pleasant Beach Baptist Church, and a wonderful mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, great-great-grandmother, sister and friend.
Pauline loved to work in her flowers, cook and watch western shows. Her favorite passage in the Bible was Psalms 23.
Funeral services will be conducted at 2 p.m. Monday, June 5, at Memorial Funeral Chapel with Rev. Mark Fowler officiating and honorable mention, Pastor Bobby G. Stout, her lifelong pastor and brother in Christ. Music will be provided by Pauline’s nephew, Shannon Sims. Active pallbearers will be William M. Holden, Christian Holdren, Isaiah Holdren, Ridge Lewis, Wade Ambrose and Brian Raby. Honorary pallbearers will be Richard Campbell, Mason Ambrose, Greg Ruston and Larry Vaughn. The family would like to extend a thank you to Alice Myers APN, Alan Cox MD and all the staff of Amedisys Hospice for their compassion and exceptional care provided to both Pauline and her family.
